Uniquely Nico Atelier is a British accessories atelier creating sculptural, handcrafted bags for bridal and occasion dressing.

Made to order in East Anglia, each piece is shaped with care, intention, and an eye for distinctive form.

Every bag is handcrafted in-house and finished with a personal note before dispatch.

Rooted in slow craftsmanship and thoughtful design, UNA creates statement pieces made to be carried, kept, and remembered.

Our Story

Uniquely Nico Atelier began during the COVID lockdowns, while I was living and working in Kuwait with my family.

A dear friend first taught me the basics of crochet. From there, I became absorbed in learning the craft and exploring what could be created through texture, structure, and form.

The process also connected me to my mum, who has crocheted for as long as I can remember. Sharing that craft across distance became part of the story.

When we returned to the UK, I continued to experiment. A bag made for my wife became the first piece to be noticed, admired, and requested by others.

From gifts and wedding pieces to early commissions, the work grew naturally.

What began as a creative outlet became Uniquely Nico Atelier: a British accessories atelier creating sculptural handcrafted bags, made to order with care and intention.

The Craft Behind the Bags

The craft behind each UNA bag begins with crochet, but it does not end there.

Every design is shaped through testing, adaptation, and refinement. Patterns are adjusted, materials are trialled, and each construction decision is considered until the finished bag feels balanced, structured, and true to the Ovoid silhouette.

The satin bags are handwoven using 50mm double-faced satin ribbon, selected for its lustre, structure, and smooth finish. The metallic pieces are created with luxe cord, worked carefully by hand to achieve depth, texture, and light-catching shine.

This process continues to guide the atelier: thoughtful experimentation, careful making, and a commitment to details that can be felt in the finished piece.

The Atelier Today

Today, Uniquely Nico Atelier focuses on handcrafted bags for bridal, occasion, and event dressing.

Each piece is made by me personally in my atelier on the edge of East Anglia, with care given to every stage of making, finishing, and presentation.

The collections will continue to evolve, with new sculptural pieces and occasion-led designs developed through the same process of testing, refinement, and handcraft.

Every order is finished with a signed personal note and the bag’s unique number.

A Family Business

Although each bag is made by my hands, Uniquely Nico Atelier is very much a family business.

My wife, Susan, brings a practical and honest eye to the design process, helping shape pieces that are beautiful, wearable, and considered.

Our youngest, Noah, supports the digital, marketing, and sales side of the atelier, helping bring UNA to a wider audience.

Together, we bring craftsmanship, practicality, and family support to the heart of Uniquely Nico Atelier.

The Nic, Founder

Alongside running Uniquely Nico Atelier, I am also an educationalist and doctoral researcher, focusing on educators’ professional development in digital transformation projects.

At first, that world may seem far removed from crochet. For me, both are connected by the same values: curiosity, development, thoughtful making, and the desire to create something meaningful.

Uniquely Nico Atelier brings together technical skill, artistic exploration, and a love of making with purpose.

What matters most to me is creating bags with presence — pieces that feel considered, distinctive, and unique.
